We have helped many patients in Middleburg Heights, OH year after year who were afflicted with back pain, and some of those patients had been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Previous research has demonstrated that chiropractic care can be an effective way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lumbar spine and other research has confirmed that it can relieve herniations in the neck, as well.
Now a recently-published case study adds to our understanding of the advantages of chiropractic for disc herniations. This study focuses on a 45-year-old woman who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The individual described a worsening of the radiating pain down her right leg, and also experienced occasional tingling in her right foot. These are all indications of neurological issues, and are serious symptoms.
The individual sought help from a chiropractor, who treated the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The therapy consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an extra four weeks of exercise and therapy.
The patient documented a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."
This case study reinforces what we see in our Middleburg Heights, OH practice: chiropractic is great for cutting down on the pain of disc herniations without medications or high-risk surgery.
